“Examples of NMR in Process Control”

Matthew P. Augustine (University of California (Davis EUA)

Three examples of using NMR in process control situations will be described. These examples include detecting tomato paste spoilage in 1 ton, 1,000 L metal lined totes, tracking fast flow cavitation mediated biomass extraction, and estimating the water content of blood serum in real time. The experimental limitations of NMR in these three key areas led to necessary, new developments to accomplish project goals and interesting, unexpected spin-off experiments. The new developments in software and hardware design will be also be described.
