High energy physics seminars: “Vector boson scattering at the LHC”

High_energy_physics_seminars-_loguinhoIn this work we study WW scattering at the LHC in the same- and opposite-sign channels under the assumption that no resonances are present in the LHC processes pp → W W j j. New physics is parametrized by means of effective operators. We combine for the first time in a detailed analysis standard selection cuts together and the recent proposed Warsaw cut (a restriction on the combination of the final lepton and jet momenta). This combination of cuts makes it possible to argue that at the LHC, at center-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV, a luminosity of 100 fb−1 will be sufficient to constrain the two leading effective lagrangian coefficients at the permil level, improving the existing expected limits. We also discuss limits on the coefficients of the other effective operators as well as stronger constraints provided by higher luminosity.
