THz radiation sources with tunable output can be utilized for spectral imaging and spectroscopy, with particular interests in medicine, industry and homeland security. Electromagnetic field in the terahertz portion of the spectra is extremely difficult to generate and detect. In this talk, an overview of the most successful approaches to overcome these challenges will be given. Additionally, state-of –the-art sources and applications will be presented.
