Resume:

Adriano D. Andricopulo is Director of the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC) at the University of São Paulo (USP), President of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences (ACIESP), a member of the Budget and Patrimony Commission (COP) of USP, and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 1A). He is a Full Professor at IFSC/USP, a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), and a Full Member of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences (ACIESP). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). He is a Full Member of the Steering Committee of the Biotechnology Fund (CT-BIOTEC) of the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and a member of the Management Council of the São Carlos Campus. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), including a doctoral sandwich period and a postdoctoral fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Michigan. His main research interests focus on medicinal chemistry and the discovery and development of natural and synthetic drugs and medicines for the treatment of neglected tropical diseases and cancer. He is Coordinator of the Special Center for Research and Innovation in Drug Discovery Sciences (CEPIMED/CEPIx) at the University of São Paulo (USP) and a member of the Steering Committee of the Comprehensive Center for Precision Oncology (C2PO) at the University of São Paulo (USP). He is Technology Transfer Coordinator of the Research and Innovation Center for Biodiversity and Drug Discovery (CIBFarCEPID/FAPESP). He previously served as Head of the Department of Physics and Interdisciplinary Science (FCI) and President of the Research Commission at IFSC-USP. He was Scientific Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Biodiversity and Natural Products (INCT-BioNat). He has delivered more than 450 conferences, lectures, and seminars in Brazil and abroad. He has served on several national and international evaluation committees and was Coordinator of the Chemistry Advisory Committee (CA-QU) of CNPq. He served as President of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) and President of the World Chemistry Congress (IUPAC-2017). He also served as President-Elect, Secretary General, Vice-Director, and Director of the Medicinal Chemistry Division, and as a member of the Advisory Council of SBQ. He served as Regional Secretary of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC São Paulo, Subarea III). He was Coordinator of the WHO Collaborating Center for Reference in Medicinal Chemistry for Chagas Disease in Brazil (WHOTDR/UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank) and Vice-Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Structural Biotechnology and Medicinal Chemistry in Infectious Diseases (INBEQMeDI). He was an Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC). He also served as a member of the Division of Chemistry and Human Health and of the International Advisory Board of IUPAC-2015 (South Korea), and as a member of the International Advisory Board of the IUPAC Centenary (IUPAC-2019, France).
