Full Professor of Theoretical Physics at the São Carlos Institute of Physics, University of São Paulo, IFSC/USP. Obtained his first degree in Physics in 1978 at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP, MSc in Physics in 1980 at the Fundacao Instituto de Fisica Teorica, IFT, PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1985 at Imperial College of Science and Technology of the University of London, and Habilitation in 1994 at Instituto de Fisica Teorica of the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, IFT/UNESP. His research work in Theoretical Physics has an emphasis on non-perturbative aspects of Field Theories, in particular Yang-Mills theory, using techniques of Soliton Theory, Gauge Theories, Integrable Field Theories and non-linear systems.
