Resume: He holds a Bachelor's in Physics from the former Institute of Physics and Chemistry of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo in 1988. Shortly after, he enrolled directly in the doctoral program in Basic Physics at the same Institute, completing it in 1993 in the field of Atomic and Molecular Physics with the thesis "High-Resolution Spectroscopy in Supersonic Beams." After completion, he began research in Condensed Matter Physics, specifically in semiconductor materials, in a postdoctoral program at the newly created Institute of Physics of São Carlos. Seven months after starting the program, he was hired as a Professor by IFSC/USP to teach Physics courses in the newly created Bachelor of Science program. In addition to teaching activities, he started research in semiconductor nanostructures, establishing the Nanofabrication laboratories at IFSC between 1997 and 2003, with facilities for the growth and processing of structures with up to 50nm resolution. After a second postdoctoral program in the United States between 2004 and 2006, he began a new research area in Magnetic Semiconductor Nanostructures and the interaction of radiation with semiconductor nanostructures. He is an Associate Professor (MS5.3) at the University of São Paulo. He has experience in the field of Physics, with emphasis on Semiconductor Nanostructures, mainly working on the following topics: Semiconductor Quantum Dots (optical, structural, and magnetic properties), Nanofabrication using lithographic techniques, and radiation interaction with matter on a nanoscale. Since 2004, he has maintained scientific collaboration with Prof. Greg Salamo, coordinator of the Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University of Arkansas, where he worked as a visiting professor between 2006 and 2007. Since 2015, he has been a visiting professor at the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Science - UESTC - China, giving lectures and courses to undergraduate and graduate students. In 1995, he created a Physics competition for high school students in the São Carlos-SP region, which became the Brazilian Physics Olympiad organized by the Brazilian Physics Society in 1999. From 2002 to 2009, he served as a member of the national committee of the Brazilian Physics Olympiad, and from 2010 to 2014, as national coordinator. He participated in the creation and later as a member of the Brazilian Physics Olympiad for Public Schools (OBFEP) national committee from 2010 to 2014. |
