João Renato C. Muniz is an Associate Professor at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC), University of São Paulo (USP). He holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from Paulista State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - UNESP, a Master's and Ph.D. in Biomolecular Physics - Protein Crystallography from São Carlos Institute of Physics, University of São Paulo. He also did part of his Ph.D. in Protein Crystallography and Molecular Modeling at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, UK. Dr. Muniz has extensive post-doctoral experience, including positions in Protein Crystallography at the Institute of Physics of Sao Carlos (2008) and as a Post-doctoral Scientist at the Structural Genomics Consortium, University of Oxford, UK (2008-2012). During his career, he worked as a Young Researcher in the Molecular Biotechnology Group at IFSC/USP. His expertise encompasses Physics, Protein Crystallography, X-ray Diffraction, Structural Biology, Structural Biochemistry, Molecular Modeling, and the development of new drugs through crystalline complexes. Dr. Muniz has made significant contributions to the field, with over 200 crystallographic structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB).
