Resume: Graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP), at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC). Did postdoctoral studies in the USA, at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia-Tech), in Atlanta, GA (2004-2007), and at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in Gaithersburg, MD (2007-2010) , having a joint position at the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) and at the University of Maryland, working in the group of prof. William D. Phillips, co-winner of the Nobel Prize in physics in 1997. During his doctorate he worked with professors Eric Cornell and Carl Wieman, co-winners of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics, at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
He is currently a professor at the University of São Paulo, at IFSC-USP. His professional performance includes research in the areas of Optics, Atomic Physics (ultra-cool gases and quantum matter) and mainly Quantum Technology (NV centers in diamond and optical tweezers). In addition to fundamental and applied research, he also does research and works in Science Education and Physics Education, and contributes to the dissemination of Science to the general public, especially to Elementary and High School students. |
