Onody <\/i><\/em><em><sup><i>*<\/i><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O n\u00famero \u03c0 foi calculado com uma precis\u00e3o de 62,8 trilh\u00f5es de casas decimais! <a href=\"#c15524\"><u><sup>1<\/sup><\/u><\/a>.Esse recorde mundial foi batido no dia 14\/08\/2021 pela Universidade de Ci\u00eancias Aplicadas de Graub\u00fcnden (Grisons em ingl\u00eas, um cant\u00e3o da Sui\u00e7a). Eles solicitaram ao Guinness Book a valida\u00e7\u00e3o do recorde. Para se ter uma id\u00e9ia da quantidade de d\u00edgitos que isso representa, se esse n\u00famero fosse impresso, com o tamanho do tipo utilizado neste\u00a0texto, seriam necess\u00e1rios 62,8 milh\u00f5es de livros de 400 p\u00e1ginas cada um!<\/p>\n<p>O recorde anterior pertencia a Timothy Mullican <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.timothymullican.com\/calculating-pi-my-attempt-breaking-pi-record\"><u><sup>2<\/sup><\/u><\/a>, que atingiu 50 trilh\u00f5es de casas decimais, superando Emma Haruka Iwao, da Google, que alcan\u00e7ou 31.4 trilh\u00f5es de d\u00edgitos <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/blog\/products\/compute\/calculating-31-4-trillion-digits-of-archimedes-constant-on-google-cloud\"><u><sup>3<\/sup><\/u><\/a>. Os tempos de computa\u00e7\u00e3o total de Graub\u00fcnden, Mullican e Iwao foram de 140, 303 e 121 dias, respectivamente.<\/p>\n<p>O hardware utilizado pela universidade su\u00ed\u00e7a foi o seguinte: 2 processadores AMD EPYC 7542 com 32 n\u00facleos cada um, 1 Terabyte de mem\u00f3ria RAM, 38 discos duros (Hds) de 16 Terabytes (de 7.200 rpm) cada um, sendo que 34 deles utilizados para troca (swap) de dados com a mem\u00f3ria RAM e 4 deles para armazenar o valor de \u03c0. Os pesquisadores n\u00e3o utilizaram discos s\u00f3lidos (SSD), porque receavam que eles falhassem perante o n\u00famero gigantesco de acessos ao disco.<\/p>\n<p>Em resumo, para fazer o download de todos os d\u00edgitos de \u03c0, voc\u00ea precisar\u00e1 de um disco r\u00edgido de 64 Terabytes! Os autores informaram que os \u00faltimos (e novos) 10 d\u00edgitos descobertos de \u03c0 s\u00e3o: 7817924262.<\/p>\n<p>A pot\u00eancia consumida foi cerca de 1.700 Watts (o mesmo que de um secador de cabelo). O software utilizado pelos pesquisadores foi o <em><i>y-cruncher<\/i><\/em>, desenvolvido por Alexander Yee <sup>4<\/sup>, e que pode ser rodado tanto no Linux quanto no Windows. Ela pertence \u00e0 fam\u00edlia de s\u00e9ries hipergeom\u00e9tricas e tem uma converg\u00eancia r\u00e1pida<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>O n\u00famero \u03c0 \u00e9 primeiro calculado na base hexadecimal e, depois, convertido para o sistema decimal.<\/p>\n<p>O n\u00famero \u03c0 \u00e9 a raz\u00e3o entre o per\u00edmetro de uma circunfer\u00eancia e seu di\u00e2metro. Seu valor aproximado j\u00e1 era conhecido desde a antiguidade por muitos povos &#8211; eg\u00edpcios, babil\u00f4nios, chineses, gregos, &#8230; Em 1761, J. H. Lambert provou que \u03c0 \u00e9 um n\u00famero <em><i>irracional<\/i><\/em>, isto \u00e9, ele <em><i>n\u00e3o pode <\/i><\/em>ser expresso como uma fra\u00e7\u00e3o a\/b, com a e b n\u00fameros inteiros (b \u2260 0). Em 1882, F. Lindemann provou que \u03c0 \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m <em><i>transcendental<\/i><\/em>, isto \u00e9, ele <em><i>n\u00e3o \u00e9 raiz<\/i><\/em>\u00a0de nenhuma equa\u00e7\u00e3o alg\u00e9brica, com coeficientes racionais.<\/p>\n<p>A import\u00e2ncia e o fasc\u00ednio que esta constante matem\u00e1tica exerce sobre os cientistas \u00e9 ineg\u00e1vel. Em 2020, astr\u00f4nomos descobriram um exoplaneta do tamanho da Terra, e o \u201cbatizaram\u201d de \u03c0-Terra (\u03c0 -Earth) <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2020-09-astronomers-earth-sized-pi-planet-day.html\"><u><sup>6<\/sup><\/u><\/a>\u00a0, pois ele leva 3,14 dias (terrestres) para orbitar sua estrela. Nos EUA, j\u00e1 h\u00e1 algumas d\u00e9cadas, se comemora o dia \u03c0 (\u03c0\u2013day). Devido \u00e0 maneira esdr\u00faxula que eles t\u00eam de colocar o m\u00eas antes do dia, o dia 14 de mar\u00e7o fica 3-14, o dia \u03c0 (que \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m a data de anivers\u00e1rio de A. Einstein). Em 3-14-15, os norte-americanos comemoraram o dia \u03c0 do s\u00e9culo.<\/p>\n<p>Um c\u00e1lculo muito interessante de ser feito, \u00e9 estimar, na pr\u00e1tica, o n\u00famero de d\u00edgitos realmente necess\u00e1rios para o valor de \u03c0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbu.edu\/academics\/mathematics\/student-activities\/pi-day\"><u><sup>7<\/sup><\/u><\/a>. O di\u00e2metro estimado do Universo conhecido \u00e9 de 8,8 10<sup>26<\/sup>\u00a0m. Qual a precis\u00e3o necess\u00e1ria no valor de \u03c0, para que se possa medir o di\u00e2metro de 1 pr\u00f3ton (estimado em 1,6 10 <sup>\u2013 15<\/sup>m)? O resultado (1,6 10 <sup>\u2013 15<\/sup>\/8,8 10<sup>26<\/sup>) \u00e9 da ordem de 10<sup>\u00a0\u2013 42<\/sup>.
